14 Week Bumpdate

Okay.  So I have to admit, I should be updating my weekly bumpdates more in the middle of the week.  That would make more sense.  Instead, I keep updating like the day before or the day of my new week, so I have to apologize.

This week, or I should say this past week, the baby was the size of a lemon from crown to rump.  MUCH better food comparison this week, don't ya think?!

Thanks to babycenter.com, I can tell you about how the baby is growing!  As far as the developments of the baby, the baby can now grimace, squint, frown, pee, and possibly suck its thumb!!!  The baby's body is now growing faster than its head, and its arms have grown more proportionate to the rest of its body.  Slowly, the baby is evening out.  No more Mr. or Ms. Big Head.....hee hee...  It's SO COOL to read about how the baby is changing.  It changes so fast!

Cute things that happened this week were my students commenting on my ever growing baby bump.  One of my little boys stood in front of me while I was lining my students up and excitedly said, "Mrs. Sutton!  Your belly is getting more....... PUFFY!"  As he said the word, "puffy," he widened his hands.  I must admit, it was really funny.  I think, "puffy" is a good descriptive word.  I also had a lot of teachers commenting on how I have such a bump, now.

This past Monday, I felt as if I had grown over night from the weekend!  It was CRAZY!!!  I went to work Monday morning, and a paraprofessional at our school shouted from down the hall, "I can see your bump from down here!"  Then, I had another para that works in the library gently wrap her arms around my shoulders and whisper cautiously, "Okay, are you expecting?"  I replied with a smile saying, "Yes I am!"  And she goes, "Okay, because I was thinking that a tiny girl like you shouldn't have such a bump on her tummy.  Congratulations!"  Just FYI, this para has been out sick for a while and a little out of the loop, so I got a little chuckle on how she was trying to be careful not to offend me in case I wasn't pregnant and that it wasn't a situation like I had a few too many jelly donuts and beers over the weekend.  HAHA!!!

Tyson laughed at me last night as I was walking to bed, commenting on how I'm already waddling a little.  Lovely...

Now for picture and survey time!  This picture was taken with a camera phone, so I apologize for the lack of quality in the picture.  But, you get the jist of my bump size. ;)

How far along? I'm typing this post at 14 weeks, 6 days.  I'll be posting this post tomorrow (Sunday).  The day I become 15 weeks.  Sorry so late!!!

Total weight gain/loss:  I hate scales, so I don't get on them frequently; nor do I own one.  Needless to say, you will mostly likely only see this part change every time I have to see the doc and get weighed.  So, for now, since my LAST appointment, I've gained 4 lbs. from my pre-pregnancy weight.

Maternity clothes? Nothing more, yet.  I'm hoping to pick up a couple pair of jeans tomorrow from GAP maternity because the hairband trick is starting to not work so well.  I DID get a new pair of flat, fall/winter brown boots because all of mine are heeled.  Didn't think high heeled boots would be a good idea for little preggo over here to wear.

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: My allergies are driving my CRAZY which is causing me not to sleep well.  I have also read that pregnancy causes more blood flow in the body.  This can cause more blood flow to the blood vessels in your sinus making them swell and clog you up more.  Besides all of this ragweed we've been having, I wonder if swollen vessels are partly to blame...

Best moment this week: Having Tyson talk to, kiss, and rub my belly.  I like to seeing him connect to our sweet baby.

Have you told family and friends: The word keeps spreading!

Miss Anything?  Feeling more energetic and.................guess what................a cocktail.

Movement: Not yet.  I want to feel this baby move SO badly!

Food cravings: Tyson pointed this out, and I haven't really taken notice until he said something, but I've really been into spicy foods.  Light and refreshing foods is still on the list as well.  Otherwise, I don't really feel CRAVINGS.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I think my prenatals.  Since I entered into my 2nd trimester, my OB now wants me off the JUST the folic acid and B12 and now take prenatals.  Ever since starting them, I get waves of nausea.  Nothing horrible, just uncomfortable and usually just for a few hours in the morning after I take them.

Have you started to show yet: Enough now that people are commenting on my bumpety bump, bump!

Gender prediction: This week, I was at a loss.  Going back and forth.

Labor Signs: Still early in my pregnancy, so nope! :)

Belly Button in or out? In, still.  Speaking of belly buttons, I officially had to take out my belly button ring!  It was looking kind of funny poking through my tight shirts.  So, now I have this gigantic
hole (over exaggeration) above my belly button.  Looks so weird!

Wedding rings on or off? On.  I hope to never have to take them off.  I'll feel naked without it!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy......tired....

Looking forward to: The anatomy scan so we can find out the gender!  I'm getting overly anxious that it's causing me slight anxiety.  Also, I just want to see that everything is all right and healthy with the baby.  ANOTHER thing causing me some anxiety.

13 Week Bump Update

Here we go!  On to a new week!  Looking a little more pregnant these days.  I go in and out of forgetting that I'm pregnant.  This week, the baby is the size of a medium shrimp from crown to rump.  Kind of a gross food comparison to me.

My belly grew a little more, and I had my 2nd prenatal visit with my Ob-gyn.  I got to hear the heartbeat again.  I got excited when the nurse pulled out that doppler thingy, loaded it with jelly, aimed for my tummy, and said, "Okay, we're going to hear the heartbeat."  I asked her excitedly, "Oh!  I get to hear it again?!?!!"  Apparently, we will listen for it every prenatal appointment, which I didn't know.  Fine by me!!!!! :)

The sound of our baby's heartbeat made me feel all kinds of warm, fuzzy, and excited all at once.  It was the sweetest sound ever.  Little baby "S" had a heartbeat of 154 bpm at Thursday's appointment.  It's so weird.  I forget I'm pregnant sometimes and that there's a little human inside me; and then I hear the heartbeat, and it makes me go, "HOLY MOLY!  There's a baby in there!" The doctor told me that my pregnancy so far is going perfectly on a medical standpoint.  I'm gaining weight perfectly, blood tests are normal, etc.  I even got to find out my blood type (FINALLY!!!).  I've always wanted to know.

Tyson and I have our anatomy scan scheduled October 22nd.  I'm being sent to St. Lukes to a high risk doctor to get my anatomy scan because their equipment is apparently the top of the line in town. No worries, though!  Everything is fine, it's just that my doctor likes to send her patients to this doctor to get their anatomy scans.  Personally, I really appreciate it.  I'll be 18 weeks exactly when we have the anatomy scan.  Sooooo!!!!.....Mark your calendars!  We find out boy or girl October 22nd.  Ugh!  I CAN'T wait!  Now for the weekly bump photo and pregnancy survey!

But, before that, how do you like how I'm "rigging" my jeans these days???

Yep!  That's a hair tie I'm using to hook around the button and through the hole because my belly sticks out too much to button it.  Trying to wear these jeans as long as I can!

Here's a close up of this cleverness going on.

Now me.  This is me at 13 weeks and 6 days.  I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow.  I'm a little late on the bump picture update.

How far along? 13 Weeks, 6 Days

Total weight gain/loss: I've gained 4 lbs. from my pre-pregnancy weight.  Happy about that.  I'm right on track!

Maternity clothes?  I bought two pairs of maternity pants for work!  The whole, "let it be unbuttoned and wide open" thing is not working much for me these days.

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: Sleeping decent.  Only getting up one time to no times at night to pee instead of the 500 times I did to pee Niagara Falls early to end of my first trimester.  I do seem to slightly wake up in the night because I'm uncomfortable sleeping on my side.  I'm trying to avoid sleeping on my back.

Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's heartbeat again and getting my belly rubbed by one of my former student's mom.  I don't know what it is, but I L-O-V-E getting my belly touched.  I've heard there are those that hate it and those that don't mind it.  I LOVE it!!!!  So touch and rub away peoples!  You're safe!

Have you told family and friends: Yep, yep!

Miss Anything?  To put it bluntly..............booze.

Movement: Nothing, yet!  I know I still have a while.  The books say the baby is moving, though.  I wish I could feel it. :(  SOON!

Food cravings: Light and refreshing foods like fruit and salads, along with soups.  Does water count by the way!?  I've been sucking down water like I got lost in the desert for a month and forgot what it tastes like! I guess drinking enough fluids couldn't be a bad thing!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not much, really.  Raw meat still kind of makes me grossed out.

Have you started to show yet: Oh for sure.  Tight, clingy shirts really show a nice bump.  However, I know I'm not THAT big enough for strangers to look at me and confidently ask, "When are you due?"  Although, there are some people in this world that ask NON-pregnant people that...  Yikes...

Gender prediction: Still yes and no.  I just keep feeling it deep down in my heart that there HAS to be a girl in here.  I just can't seem to think it's a boy for some odd reason.  But, then I always second guess myself and think that maybe it's a boy.

Labor Signs: Still early in my pregnancy, so nope! :)

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender!  C'mon Oct. 22nd!  Just a little over 4 weeks to go!

Guess What....

We're pregnant!!!!  We're due March 24th (four days after my birthday and four days before our wedding anniversary)!  March will be a very busy month for us!  We are VERY excited, but also VERY nervous.  I think it's all basically the first feelings you have when you find out you're pregnant with your first baby.  Do you want to hear the story of how we found out?!????  Here goes!!!.....

I was expecting for my (sorry...TMI) period to come back in the beginning-middle of July, but it hadn't yet.  I was taking a month off on my birth control to "re-adjust" my body because I had messed up the previous month by a week.  Oops!  I was only late by like ONE DAY, so I never thought anything of missing "Aunt Flow."  I just thought that it would take some time for my body to figure out its cycle since my birth control got a little off on its days.  I went to the gynecologist for my regular annual so I could get my birth control refilled and figure out what I needed to do to "reset."  While I was there, the nurse calculated my last menstrual cycle and said with slight panic/disappointment, "Ohhh...You're late..."  I just smiled and replied, "I know.  And I'm okay with that."  Looking at her like, "Is it a problem that I could be possibly pregnant?  I know I look like I'm a teenager, but I promise I'm old enough to have a baby." ;)  She had me tell the doctor about my birth control situation and the fact that I'm late.  When I told him, he thought nothing of it and told me that it could take 4-6 weeks for my period to come back.  He didn't want to do any tests....nothing.  He didn't seem to be concerned, so I continued to think nothing of it.

For a couple of more days, I felt symptoms like I was expecting to get my period.  You know....the typical cramps, fatigue, bloatiness, blah-de-blah.  My stepmom and sister knew about my birth control situation, so they kept saying, "Reannin.  You're late.  You're feeling all of these symptoms.  You're pregnant."  They kept repeating this for almost a week.  I kept telling them what my doctor said, and denied I was pregnant.  In a way, I was kind of hoping I was, but I tried to convince myself that I wasn't because I didn't want to get my hopes up.  Both my sister and my mother had trouble conceiving, so I thought, genetically, I'd be in the same boat.  I didn't want to jump to conclusions, take a test, and be disappointed.  Kellie, my stepmom, was afraid I'd never get pregnant because Tyson and I kept saying we weren't ready, and my sister was desperate for her son to have a cousin.  She reminded me frequently that I needed to start trying so Braxton could have a cousin close in age.

Finally, I caved and got a test after being almost a week and half to two weeks late.  My stepmom kept calling me that night, excited and anxious.  I told her I would take the test in the morning.  The following morning, I woke up to a text message that was sent at 7 a.m. from my sister that read, "WAKE UP!"  I guess she was anxious, too.  Once I woke up, I took it.  I stared at the Clearblue stick on the counter, watching the screen blink several times.  A few blinks later, it blinked Pregnant.  I then lost my breath, my heart stopped, and I teared up (with excitement).  I quickly grabbed the test, ran to my phone, took a picture of it, and texted it to my sister.  I wanted her to be the first to find out since I was the first person she told when she found out she was preggo.  After no response, I called her.  She answered, I delivered the news, and then I heard her excitedly/breathlessly repeated and slightly cried, "You're pregnant!  You're pregnant!  I told you!  I told you!  You're pregnant!  You're pregnant!......." and it carried on like that for about 30 more seconds.  It sounded like she was jumping up and down on the other end of the phone.  That's how out of breath she sounded.  Once I got off the phone with her, I went to go wake Tyson up.  It was 7:30 in the morning, so I sort of startled him.  He thought something was wrong.  I handed him the stick as he blindly tried to read it.  I started to cry and said, "I'm pregnant."  He took one tired look at it, his face lit up, and he grabbed me and hugged me.....  Then asked me if I was all right with it because I was crying.  I told him they were happy tears.  Phone calls were made to our parents and siblings, but that was it.  I even took another test later that day just to be extra sure.  Again, positive!

So where am I now?  Well, 12 weeks pregnant and still scared but at the same time excited.  Tyson's in the same boat.  My bump increases in size weekly.  I'm just so tiny that it's showing fast on me.  My mom told me that I'll be "starting to look like an olive on a toothpick sooner than later."  I never really got sick.  Just slight queasiness once in a while.  I really haven't had an appetite, which that's starting to come back.  Also, I was just extremely fatigued and had headaches at the beginning all the way up until last week.  My energy is starting to pick back up.  I just wasn't feeling myself for a while.  It was kind of cruddy feeling.  My first two weeks back to work after summer vacation was really hard since I was in the midst of my first trimester .  I'd come home crying (hormones) telling Tyson that I was miserable, and all I wanted to do was sleep, which I did.  I'd come home, take a nap, wake up, stay awake for a couple of hours, then go back to bed for the night.  My body just feels so, not me.  Pregnancy is very interesting so far, and it's only going to get even more interesting.

     Now the fun stuff.....PICTURES!!!!

This is the first ultrasound of our baby at my first prenatal checkup.  I was measuring 6 weeks and 4 days here.  The heartbeat was at 120-125 bmp.  I got to hear it.  It was so beautiful.  Tyson started to tear up.

Fast forward a couple of weeks later....  I had switched doctors.  I wanted a family friend to be my doctor. Thank you to my wonderful mother-in-law who let me know about their family friend who was an OBGYN.  This ultrasound was taken when I was 8 weeks, 5 days.  Isn't it incredible the amount of change that happened in the baby in a period of 2 weeks?!?!???  Again, I got to hear the heartbeat which was now beating at 160 bpm.  It was the most incredible sound the second time around.

And here's me at 12 weeks.  Bump and all!  If you look below, I have a little "mommy/baby" update that I plan to do weekly.  So, stay tuned to this blog weekly to read about the changes and our experiences throughout this pregnancy! :)

How far along? 12 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I've gained 4 lbs.

Maternity clothes? My sister gave me some hand me downs, so I haven't bought any yet.  I wore my first pair of maternity black skinny slacks to work last week because none of my work slacks will button. :(  I'm reduced to a pair of old fat pants that I can't even button totally, leggings, and any pants I have with elastic.  I'm in pants limbo here!

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: Sleeping okay, but have to get up every few hours during the night to pee A LAKE!  That's aggravating at times.  The books say my kidneys are functioning a little more efficiently right now.

Best moment this week: Having my energy pick up a little more! :)

Have you told family and friends: Yes!

Miss Anything? A cocktail or glass of wine with friends and getting to exercise/crossfit at "full speed."  Have to keep that heart rate down and those weights light!  Oh!  And I miss my abs!!!!!!  I pride myself on having great ab muscles to show off.  Those are no longer there. :(

Movement: Nothing yet, and probably nothing for a while.

Food cravings: Not really CRAVINGS, but I've been wanting to eat a lot of bagels with less fat cream cheese and Chobani greek yogurt.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat, especially when I see it raw.  Needless to say, I haven't been cooking much.  Also, heavy, greasy, and fried foods.  They make me feel more like crap than they did BEFORE I was pregnant.

Have you started to show yet: Looking chubby for sure!  I'm kind of in that awkward body stage of pregnancy.

Gender prediction: Yes and no.  I think when I start feeling the baby, I can make a prediction.  I've been having dreams, though, that it's a girl and my brain and heart keeps wrapping around that it's a girl in there.  We have our anatomy scan on Oct. 22nd, so we'll find out girl or boy then!

Labor Signs: Ha!  No.  That'll be a while my friends.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: In between?....

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender and feeling the baby move!
